The congregation of St. Paul’s in Chatham, founded in 1907, is as integral a part of the community it serves as you would expect from a church located on “Main Street.” A congregation prominently located in the center of town, next door to the public library, St. Paul’s is a growing congregation focused on a mission to serve their neighbors.
As a concrete response to the challenge to claim God’s abundance by discovering and gathering resources to equip congregations, empower people and engage the world, the Advisor to the Bishop for Development will lead the effort in the Episcopal Diocese of Newark to provide financial resources that will equip congregations and the diocese to carry out its mission. The congregation of Holy Trinity in West Orange has been in existence for over a century. Formed initially as an off shoot of old St. Mark's, the congregation changed its name from St. Mark's Chapel to Holy Trinity upon incorporation as an independent mission in 1907.
The Ward J. Herbert Fund provides funds for buildings that are used for congregational functions. Top priority is given for deterioration of structure, hazards, and emergencies, such as inoperative boilers and leaking roofs. Grants from the Ward J. Herbert Fund must be matched dollar for dollar.
