A/V equipment is not inexpensive to obtain, and the increased bandwidth required to leverage them is often costly to install. Diocesan Council saw an opportunity to help the congregations of the diocese cross this technical divide.
Like mothers everywhere, Tasha Scott is determined to help her kids get a good education. But she faces some special challenges.
Scott, 42, is an unemployed single mother of eight children, currently living in the Apostles’ House shelter in Newark. Her children range in age from 2 to 26. She dropped out of high school when she first became pregnant, having completed the 10th grade.
Our diocese distributed over $1,000,000 in outreach, congregational support, and scholarships in 2014. This financial support of God’s work in our neighborhoods and communities is made possible by donations from individuals and congregations, and by church pledges. To initiate a Marge Christie Fund grant application, please fill out and submit this form, and then follow the instructions emailed to you. All submission materials must be received by 12 noon on March 15.
The Marge Christie Congregational Growth and Vitality Fund provides congregational missional funds for the support, strengthening, development and renewal of our congregations’ mission and ministry. The fund's Board seeks to challenge and support our congregations as they prayerfully reflect on how their existing and future projects and programs might deepen and strengthen the congregation’s missional identity. Grant applications from congregations throughout the Diocese of Newark will be received and considered on an annual basis.
