CFO issues 2014 Pre-Convention meeting PowerPoint presentation

Paul Shackford, diocesan Chief Financial Officer, today issued the PowerPoint presentation that he used at the three 2014 Pre-Convention meetings. The presentation includes: (a) projected full year 2013 results, compared with the 2013 budget; (b) information regarding historical pledges to the diocese as well as detailed information regarding 2014 pledges received thus far; and (c) the proposed 2014 budget which was adopted by Diocesan Council at its December meeting, and additional information and details regarding the proposed budget.

CFO announces proposed 2014 budget adopted by Diocesan Council

In September 2013, the Budget & Finance Committee met to begin developing the proposed budget for the year 2014. It held a Budget Forum in October, open to all from the diocese, at which the preliminary budget was presented. Following that, the Committee met to make adjustments to the preliminary budget with the goal of developing a balanced budget where expenses are equal to income.

Small Employer Health Care Tax Credit

A number of churches have filed and have received substantial checks from the IRS by filing certain tax forms based on the amount of the health insurance premiums the church pays. This credit began in 2010. While the instructions indicate that the deadline for filing is May 15th of the year following the tax year, we know of churches that have filed after that deadline and received checks – and we have been advised that there is no practical deadline to file.

Deadline for new budget requests
