At this year’s Diocesan Convention, youth participation will look a little different. To help us better understand, we were able to get an exclusive interview with Janelle Grant, one of the Co-chairs of the Youth Commission, and a key planner for the new Youth Convo.

There are multiple groups that have been hard at work meeting, discussing, and planning what the 150th Annual Diocesan Convention will look like. Who are they?

As we prepare for the 150th Annual Diocesan Convention in November 2024, the Convention must elect individuals to various committees, and ratify appointments that the Bishop makes to other committees.

The 150th Annual Diocesan Convention will be held on November 8 and 9 of this year. While this is a departure from our familiar timing, it is a decision by the Bishop to better integrate the Convention with our program year.

Picture it, Convention Marketplace 2024, a bustling room filled with various exhibitors and vendors. Clergy, deputies, and other attendees strolling through the aisles learning about different organizations and shopping wares from small businesses. This year we are looking to create a new Marketplace that will provide more opportunities to learn, discover, and shop. This updated version will be a must for nonprofits and small businesses to be involved with.

Do you have a member of your congregation that is great with technology? What about that person that is a rockstar in retail sales? God has blessed us each with amazing talents and many times we miss letting them shine. Now is the time to find those talented people in your congregations and let them know how they can shine at the diocesan level.

A big change is coming to the Convention for youth this November! The introduction of technology to our voting system has caused a reduced amount of work for the youth volunteers. As a result, the opportunity to create a new program called Youth Convo has become a reality. This exciting new program created by the Youth Commission in partnership with Cross Roads, will be the place to be for youth in grades 9-12 across the diocese.
