Applications are due February 15, 2013 for the three following funds. Click the link to each fund for more information, including applications and instructions.

Marge Christie Congregational Growth and Vitality Fund

Applications are now being accepted for the Marge Christie Congregational Growth and Vitality Fund (Marge Christie Fund) for June 2013 funding.

The Marge Christie Fund provides funds to support and strengthen the development and renewal of our congregations’ mission and ministry. Proposals are sought that will assist your congregation with clergy and lay leadership development; stewardship and financial stability; evangelism; spiritual formation; liturgy and worship; strategic planning; and collaboration between congregations.

The Marge Christie Fund was founded in 2009 to honor Marge Christie, an active lay member of her church, her diocese and the national church whose years of ministry and service to others have touched the lives of many people in a variety of places. A person who Bishop Beckwith describes as the “model of what it means to put faith into action,” Marge has served on numerous church, diocesan and national committees, including as General Convention deputy, Diocesan Trustee, founding member of the Oasis, Trustee of General Theological Seminary, the Anglican Women’s Empowerment, and much more.

ACTS/VIM Fund

ACTS/VIM (A Commitment To Serve/Venture In Mission) funds program proposals which address one or more of the following:

  • Connect congregational development and community outreach.
  • Promote inclusivity and welcoming of outsiders (or program beneficiaries) into the Episcopal Church.
  • Foster and broaden clergy and lay leadership in the congregation.
  • Demonstrate responsible stewardship of resources.
  • Offer creative vision for the church's witness and presence in the community.
  • Promote collaboration and cooperation.
  • Provide initial resources for new endeavors (seed money), which might otherwise be difficult to fund.

If you are considering applying to ACTS/VIM please read the information carefully, as there are changes taking effect in 2013, including a new application form and only one funding cycle this year.

Ward J. Herbert Fund

The Ward J. Herbert Fund provides funds for buildings that are used for congregational functions. Top priority is given for deterioration of structure, hazards, and emergencies, such as inoperative boilers and leaking roofs. Grants from the Ward J. Herbert Fund must be matched dollar for dollar.

This is the deadline for the first of three funding cycles each year. The other deadlines are May 15 and October 1.
