The Standing Committee of the Diocese of Newark is pleased to announce that Joseph LaVela (St. Paul’s, Chatham), Nerissa Boccino (St. Peter’s, Morristown), the Rev. Paul Olsson, (Rector, St. Paul’s Chatham), and Rhonda Lutz (Church of the Saviour Denville) have been chosen to fill vacancies that ocurred on the Search/Nominating Committee.
By now you have read the information about the events that took place two weeks ago to necessitate a pause in our XI Bishop Search. Although our search for our next Diocesan Bishop is on hold, your Search/Nominating Committee is continuing to prepare for the next steps in our process. There was a breach in trust on the part of one of our members, and for this we sincerely apologize.
The Diocese of Newark is revising the diocesan profile it published to guide the search for its next bishop after discovering that a section of the profile was plagiarized from the profile of the Diocese of Bethlehem.
The Rev. Joseph Harmon, interim vice president of the diocesan Standing Committee, announced today that the search process is paused until January 2, 2018 at which time the application process, which had closed on November 17, will be reopened until January 10 to accommodate candidates who might wish to apply based on the revised profile.

Your Search/Nominating Committee is actively seeking candidates for the role of XI Bishop for the Diocese of Newark.
Greetings from the Transition Committee. Much work is happening behind the scenes as we work on our tasks in the process for the election of our next Bishop.
With much prayer and anticipation, the Search/Nominating Committee is proud to share the Profile for the XI Bishop of the Diocese of Newark. A true labor of love, the Profile includes input from the greater Diocese obtained through an online survey, as well as several listening meetings held during the past few months. Although the Profile only provides a window into who and what we are, it will give you a great sense of the passion, diversity and commitment that exists in our Diocese.
