A total of five Walkabouts are planned for May 4, 5 & 6, 2018 to provide both candidates for bishop and diocesan members with opportunities to meet and get to know each other, and to allow the candidates to address concerns and questions from both laity and clergy
The candidates for the XI Bishop of Newark have been invited to participate in a "Walkabout" tour of our diocese. Walkabouts are intended to provide both candidates and diocesan members with opportunities to meet and get to know each other, and to allow the candidates to address concerns and questions from both laity and clergy.

NEWARK, March 5, 2018 – The Standing Committee of the Diocese of Newark is pleased to announce a slate of candidates who will stand for election as XI Bishop of Newark at a special convention on May 19, 2018.
The candidates are:
Your Search/Nominating Committee, along with the Search Chaplain, spent three days last week attending a Discernment Retreat with eight potential candidates for XI Bishop. The time was spent in prayerful discernment, where one of the participants said we were “cloaked in love and prayer.” The retreat included meals, praying the Office, twenty-minute presentations from each of the candidates, dialogues, questions, and also information about our current Diocesan Staff. Candidates had the opportunity to learn about the Diocese of Newark, and we gained an insight into them.
