The Rev. Laurie Wurm at domestic violence event for Nazish Noorani

The Boonton family of slaying victim Nazish Noorani drew some comfort today from a forum, march and vigil dedicated to preventing the domestic violence that allegedly caused her death.

The Rev. Laurie Jean Wurm of St. John’s Episcopal Church in Boonton, a leader of the interfaith group that organized the event, said she was pleased by the large turnout that included men and women, Muslims and non-Muslims. She said it reminded her of a service held at her church two days after the shooting.

Boonton slaying victim Nazish Noorani will be remembered Sunday afternoon during a forum on domestic violence, followed by a walk and vigil in her honor.

“Boonton was devastated by the murder of our neighbor, Nazish Noorani,” commented the Rev. Laurie Wurm of St. John’s Episcopal Church in Boonton. “Our community needed to do something so the horror of that night won’t have the final word in our town and in this young woman’s life.”
