All congregations are canonically required to submit an audit of the books and records on an annual basis. Audits for the year 2014 are due by June 1, 2015. (Note that this deadline was changed by Diocesan Council from September 1.)
An annual audit of each congregation is required by the canons of The Episcopal Church (Title I, Canon 7, Section 1(f)-(g)). Not only is an annual audit an important part of ensuring that the finances are being properly recorded and maintained, it is an important part of our stewardship of the assets that God has given to us.
An annual audit is a canonical requirement of The Episcopal Church. Completed audits must be approved by your vestry and returned to the diocese no later than September 30 of the following year.
All congregations are canonically required to complete an annual audit of the books and records of the congregation and to file the report with the diocese no later than September 1. All accounts (investment accounts, discretionary funds, memorial funds, and any other accounts of the congregation) must be audited each year.
