We can be fearful or trusting - Meditation for Friday of Lent II

"Teacher do you not care if we drown?"

Have you ever screamed at God: “Don’t you care about...?” “Why are you doing this to... ” “Why me?”

We note Jesus didn’t tell his followers not to scream at him but instead asked them why they were so afraid.

Yes, he did a quick fix for these terrified men, but in falling asleep it seems he was willing to ride out the storm.

Did he know a storm was going to hit them before he settled down to sleep?  I do not know.

Storms of life happen and can take over our lives if we let them.  But he went on that journey trusting that God would be with them all.  God is with us as we journey through life; especially through the storms.

We can be fearful or trusting - the choice is ours.

O Lord help me in the storms of life to know and trust you are with me.  Amen.
