St. Stephen's Episcopal Church
Millburn , NJ 07041 ,

Join us at St. Stephen's, Millburn for our upcoming Friends of Music 50th Anniversary Beckerath Organ Recital featuring Saint Stephen's organist, John Charles Schucker. This is the second in a series of three celebratory recitals as our Beckerath Organ turns 50 this year!

Join us on Sunday, February 23, 2020 at 4pm for this special performance. $10 suggested donation at the door, children accompanied by an adult are welcome as guests, and an artist's reception will follow this performance.

The acclaimed Baroque-style tracker or mechanical action organ was designed and built in 1970 for the historic Gothic Revival interior of Saint Stephen’s Church by the noted German organ builder Rudolf von Beckerath, a leader in the 20th-century revival and further development of the mechanical keyboard action of Bach’s time, which had been considerably eclipsed by the introduction of modern electrical action.  50 years ago, members of our Organ Committee traveled to hear many organs in the U.S. and Canada before enthusiastically acclaiming Beckerath as the clear choice for St. Stephen’s.  Our Beckerath beautifies our worship services and through the Friends of Music (now in its 50th year) offers a music ministry to the larger community with recitalists from near and far who relish the opportunity to perform here.

Save the date for our extra special final spring recital - Sunday, April 19, 2020 at 4pm - featuring Johann Vexo, Organiste de Choeur of The Cathedral of Notre-Dame in Paris.  You won't want to miss it!
