"Ordinary Resurrections" by Jonathan Kozol

Over the years I've invited people to join me in reading a book during the season of Advent. This year I've chosen the book Ordinary Resurrections: Children in the Years of Hope by Jonathan Kozol.

Dr. Kozol has written many books about children, particularly children in urban areas who struggle with no end of problems, yet in the midst of all that are able to discover hope and peace and strength in one another and in their faith. In Ordinary Resurrections, he returns to the South Bronx to spend another four years with the children at P.S. 30 and St. Ann's Episcopal Church. It is a fascinating narrative of daily urban life as seen through the eyes of children, and testifies to the courage and resilience of the young.

I'll be blogging about my reflections on this book every day, and invite you to participate by reading the blog and posting your comments as we read the book together.

It will be an opportunity for us to join in this journey in greater depth -- into the promise of hope and peace that we celebrate at Christmas.

How to get the book

Ordinary Resurrections can be ordered from Amazon in paperback for $10.23; as an audiobook for $18.96; or can be ordered from a private bookseller through Amazon (this often works out VERY well) for $2.90 (new) or $.01 (used). All of this can be accessed by clicking on the above link.
