Anyone who’s done a major home renovation project knows that there are usually unforeseen issues that prolong the process, and the complex renovation of the former St. Peter’s, Livingston to house diocesan headquarters is no exception. A couple of issues have arisen which are not cause for alarm, but will cause some delay. As a result, the date the Bishop and her staff can take occupancy has been pushed from late 2024 into early 2025.
Still, the renovation is going very well overall. Outside, the brick façade of the church, which had been bowing outward, has been repaired and reinforced. Inside, most of the new wiring and plumbing has been installed; the initial steel work for the elevator and new staircase to the basement has been completed; and the offices, staff meeting room, lunchroom, restrooms, and various utility rooms have been framed. Currently, Internet cables are being run through the wall framing, in preparation for the installation of drywall. It’s beginning to be possible to see what the finished result will look like – and that’s very exciting.
Meanwhile, on September 18 NJPAC broke ground in Parking Lot C next to Episcopal House for their planned Cooperman Center. Once NJPAC takes possession of Episcopal House, it will be renovated to hold offices as part of the NJPAC campus.
