On Ash Wednesday, March 6, 2019, the Rev. Paula J. Toland of St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church will distribute ashes at the Millburn Train Station, from about 6:00 am to 8:45 am. In a program called Ashes to Go, Rev. Paula is distributing ashes to people on their way to work who may not have time to attend the service for the imposition of ashes taking place at St. Stephen’s Church at 12pm and 7pm.

Rev. Paula says, “In the midst of the hustle and bustle of our busy lives, it is important to pause and be reminded that we are part of something more than just our daily routines, our jobs, the tasks of daily living. With Ashes to Go, we are reminded that God is alive and present in and through all things, and that being loved by God is not limited to a church building or faith community. It is, paradoxically, both humbling and empowering. It is grace.”

Ash Wednesday marks the beginning of Lent, which prepares Christians for the celebration of Easter, on Sunday April 21st. For more information about Ashes to Go, visit www.ashestogo.org. Founded in 1851, St. Stephen’s is a “diverse Episcopal parish, a life-giving sanctuary, a place where love begets love. Seekers, doubters, and believers find a comfortable place in our congregation.”

St. Stephen’s is located at 119 Main Street (at the corner of Rector Street) in Millburn, New Jersey. For more information please visit us at http://ststephensmillburn.org, call (973) 376-0688, email church@ststephensmillburn.org, like us on Facebook or follow us on Instagram.
