C. Mark Dadd

With sadness we share the news of the passing of Christopher Mark Dadd, 71, on Friday, May 22, 2015, after a long and courageous struggle with leukemia. A Requiem Mass will be held on Saturday, June 27, 11 a.m. at St. Peter's Church in Morristown, followed by a repast in the Parish Hall.

Born and raised in Cambridge, England, Mark received his bachelor's degree in economics from Nottingham University in 1967. While at university, he served as a pilot in the Royal Air Force Reserve. He attended the University of Wisconsin as a Fulbright scholar, earning a Ph.D. in economics in 1973. During this time, he met and married his wife of 43 years, Diane.

Mark enjoyed a fascinating and highly successful professional life. He was employed by the British Government from 1972 until 1983. He served as economic adviser to the Prime Minister's office and later as a British diplomat at the British Embassy in Washington, D.C. Mark was employed by AT&T for many years, serving as chief economist from 1992 until his retirement. He also served as president of the National Association of Business Economists.

Mark was an active member of St. Peter's Church in Morristown, serving on the vestry, finance committee and as treasurer. He also served the Diocese of Newark as Chair of the Diocesan Investment Trust (DIT).

Mark was known for his sharp intellect, kindness, and wonderful sense of humor. He enjoyed traveling and spending time with family and friends at his beach home in Naples, FL.

He is survived by his wife, Diane; daughter Caroline and her husband, Charles Yarton; daughter Joanne Dadd; brother Giles Dadd and his wife, Kate; grandchildren, Emma, Julia and Charlie, as well as several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, Christopher and Kathleen Mary Dadd, and his twin sister, Michal Yorke.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to the St. Peter's Episcopal Church Building Preservation Fund or the John Theurer Cancer Center, Hackensack, N.J.

God, our Father, we thank you that you have made each of us in your own image, and given us gifts and talents with which to serve you. We thank you for Mark, the years we shared with him, the good we saw in him, the love we received from him. Now give us strength and courage, to leave him in your care, confident in your promise of eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
