[Daily Record] Sensei Ray Cicetti of The Empty Bowl Zen Community and the Rev. Cynthia Black of Church of the Redeemer led members of the community in a brief meditation and raising of prayer flags on Tuesday to call attention to the plight of the people of Nepal following the devastating earthquakes.

The earthquakes killed more than 7,000 people and injured more than twice as many and destroyed many UNESCO World Heritage sites. Hundreds of thousands of people have been made homeless with entire villages flattened across many districts of the country. The earthquake triggered an avalanche on Mount Everest, killing at least 19, making it the deadliest day on the mountain in history.

The Redeemer Sunday School and parishioners made the prayer flags which were flown along with traditional Buddhist prayer flags.
