Death in our diocesan family: Carolyn M. Pease, wife of the Rev. Richard N. Pease

With sadness we share the news of the passing of Carolyn M. Pease, 89, on Tuesday, February 3, 2015 in Rhinebeck, NY. She was the wife of the Rev. Richard N. Pease, who served as rector of Trinity Church in Irvington (1945-1951) and Grace Church in Rutherford (1951-1980). Prior to her marriage, Carolyn served on diocesan staff as the bishop's secretary.

A memorial service will be held at Grace Church in Rutherford at a date to be announced.

In addition to being a busy clergy wife, Carolyn worked part time at Fairleigh Dickinson University in Rutherford. A high point of her life was a year living in Ramsgate, England with her husband and children when they participated in a parish exchange.

Upon retirement the Peases moved to Kennebunk, ME, where Carolyn volunteered for United Way, the Budget Box and other causes. She enjoyed vigorous walking, and gardening, knitting, painting and especially family summers spent at Biddeford Pool, ME.

Carolyn was preceded in death by her husband, and by her brother Halsey Helwig. She is survived by daughter Nancy Vendetti and her husband Joseph; son Randall Pease and his wife Maureen; three grandchildren, Neil Vendetti and his wife Lisa, Jann Vendetti and her husband Gene Kwon, and Allison Pease; four great-grandchildren Olivia, Luke, and Sage Vendetti and Corinne Vendetti-Kwon; and a niece, Joan Helwig.

Memorial donations may be to the Alzheimer's Association, 2 Jefferson Plaza, Poughkeepsie, NY 12601.

Condolences may be sent to Nancy and Joseph Vendetti, 64 Red Tail Road, Rhinebeck, NY  12572.

Lord, for your faithful people life is changed, not ended.
When the body of our earthly dwelling lies in death
we gain an everlasting dwelling place in heaven.
Lord, grant eternal rest, forever in the radiance of your light.
Amen.
