Death in our diocesan family: The Rev. Dr. T. Herbert Johnson

The Rev. Dr. T. Herbert Johnson

With sadness we share the news of the passing of the Rev. Dr. T. Herbert Johnson on December 5, 2014 in Charlotte, NC.

The Rev. Johnson was ordained to the diaconate in the Diocese of Newark in 1973 by Bishop Leland Stark and served as Curate at Trinity & St. Philip's Cathedral from 1973-1975. He was ordained to the priesthood in 1977 in the Diocese of Michigan and served congregations in the Dioceses of Michigan, Ohio and Long Island. He and his wife Beverly were the first Platinum Life Members of the Union of Black Episcopalians.

Funeral arrangements will be posted on the Union of Black Episcopalians website when they become available.

Good and gracious God, the light of the faithful and shepherd of souls, you sent your servant Herbert to be a priest in your Church to feed your sheep with your word and to guide them by his example; give us the grace to keep the faith he taught and to follow in his footsteps. We entrust him into your unfailing mystery of Love and Hope through Jesus Christ our Lord.
Amen.
