[Independent Press] In conjunction with Girls Scouts World Thinking Day, St. Paul’s Episcopal Church Youth Group in Chatham is sponsoring a presentation on Sunday, Feb. 9, by Maggie Doyne, a Mendham native, who at age 19 used her babysitting savings to begin building a home for orphaned children in war-ravaged Nepal.

Everyone is welcome to hear her inspirational story, especially important for children who are interested in helping their counterparts in other parts of the world. She will preach at the 10 a.m. service and speak after worship in the Parish Hall. Girl Scouts attending her lecture will earn credit toward their “World Thinking Day 2014” badge, which follows the theme of “education opens doors for all girls and boys,” based on the UN’s Millennium Development Goal 2, to achieve universal primary education.
