After five ballots, four clergy deputies and three of four lay deputies had been elected to represent the Episcopal Diocese of Newark at General Convention 2012. Only two candidates remained for the last lay deputy position: Marge Christie, who has served the diocese for decades, and her granddaughter Caroline Christie.
