June 2012 Grants by the Ward J. Herbert Fund

On June 13, 2012, Diocesan Council ratified a total of $55,159 in grants recommended by the Ward J. Herbert Fund Board for their first 2012 granting cycle.

The Ward J. Herbert Fund provides funds for buildings that are used for congregational functions. Top priority is given to funds for deterioration of structure, hazards, and emergencies, such as required roof repairs and inoperative boilers. The fund's second priority is interior and exterior renovation to provide for expanded mission of the congregation. Grants from the Ward J. Herbert Fund must be matched dollar for dollar by the congregation. There are three funding cycles each year.

The amounts granted for the June 2012 funding cycle were:

$1,717 to Christ Church, Bloomfield/Glen Ridge (church & rectory roofs)
$2,752 to St. Paul's, Englewood (parish hall-roof replacement & repairs)
$8,437 to Christ Church, Harrison (church roof repairs)
$3,260 to Grace Van Vorst, Jersey City (church boiler)
$1,000 to St. Paul's, Jersey City (furnace conversion oil to gas)
$6,000 to St. George's, Maplewood (heating system)
$2,954 to St. Gabriel's, Milton/Oak Ridge (vicarage roof replacement)
$4,552 to St. Luke's, Montclair (fire and smoke detection system)
$1,473 to St. Paul's, Morris Plains (rectory furnace replacement)
$9,500 to House of Prayer, Newark (brick chimney rebuilding)
$7,060 to Epiphany, Orange (furnace replacement)
$3,150 to St. Gregory's, Parsippany (church roof replacement)
$1,000 to Grace, Rutherford (church roof repairs)
$2,304 to St. Michael's, Wayne (rectory roof replacement and windows repairs)
