An invitation from Bishop Beckwith:
I invite members of the diocese to join me and other members of the Newark Interfaith Coalition for Hope and Peace at a candlelight vigil at Integrity House, 105 Lincoln Park at Broad Street in Newark. We will gather at the foot of a mural commissioned by the Coalition, which showcases our motto for the city of Newark: Support and Protect our Children. We will pray and witness for the safety of all children – especially in the wake of the Newtown, CT shootings – and in the wake of violence against children in Newark and beyond.
An invitation has been extended to Newark Mayor Cory Booker to speak at the vigil, and the Integrity Choir will lead songs for peace.
On the shortest night of the year, I invite people to bring llight to the darkness, as we light candles and offer hope.
