Screening of "The Philadelphia Eleven"

The Philadelphia Eleven
Sun, May 5 2024, 12:15pm

Join us for the telling of the story that transformed some of the barriers in our church.

At the time when women were first ordained in the Episcopal Church, it was considered the most critical event in the denomination’s history since its founding by English King Henry VIII when he broke away from Catholicism.

The Philadelphia Eleven are eleven women who were the first women ordained as priests in the Episcopal Church on July 29, 1974, two years before General Convention affirmed and explicitly authorized the ordination of women to the priesthood.

Snack and beverage will be served.
