Fri, Mar 17 2023, 7:30pm to 9:00pm

Experience the majestic pipes and masterful skill of star organist Daniel Roth in concert!

Daniel Roth is renowned worldwide as one of the finest organists of his generation. In 1985 he was appointed Titular Organist of the Parisian church of Saint-Sulpice, in succession to Jean-Jacques Grunenwald, Marcel Dupré and Charles-Marie Widor. In 2023 Saint-Sulpice honored him with the title Organist Emeritus. Earlier posts included being assistant organist at the basilica of Sacré-Coeur in Montmartre, and two years as Artist-in-Residence at the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception in Washington DC. Winner of many prestigious prizes and awards throughout his distinguished career, he is renowned especially as one of the greatest interpreters of French organ music in our time. In addition to performing this repertoire live, he has made numerous recordings and written on it extensively. Also a prolific composer, his works comprise a significant contribution to the 20th and 21st century repertoire. His skills as an improviser are legendary, and many of his concerts feature spectacular examples of this art.

St. Peter's is delighted to welcome Daniel Roth to perform on our historic organ, built in 1930 by the Skinner Organ Company. The instrument, being totally unaltered since its installation, is a landmark of the organ builder's art, and is of national and international significance. The combined artistry of performer and instrument will be sure to make this a rare and unmissable opportunity to attend a historic evening of music-making here in Morristown.
