Calvary Church in Summit, St. George's Church in Maplewood, and members of the Summit Chorale are pleased to offer a requiem service for All Saints’ Day and All Souls’ Day. This service will feature music by Maurice Duruflé. The combined choirs will sing the Requiem and Ubi Caritas, beloved since their composition for their fusion of Gregorian chant and 20th century French harmony. Dr. Evan Cogswell, music director at Calvary, will play the Suite, a tour-de-force for organ that includes a somber prelude, a graceful sicilienne, and a sparkling toccata.
The choirs are joined by cellist Paul Vanderwal II and conductor Megan Coiley, music minister at St. George’s.
The Rev. Cn. Michel Belt officiates the service. The event will be live-streamed on the church's YouTube channel. You are invited to join either in person or online. Masks are optional for all in attendance.
A freewill offering goes to benefit the music ministries at Calvary and St. George’s.
A light reception will follow the service.
