Votive candles

Michele “Mike” and Rosa GargiuloWith sadness we share the news of the death of Rosa Gargiulo, 85, on April 4, 2020, and Michele “Mike” Gargiulo, 96, on April 17, 2020, mother and father of the Rev. Mariano Gargiulo of St. James’, Ridgefield.

They leave a daughter, Louisa Gargiulo, and a son, Mariano, and his husband, William Borrelli.

After marrying in Italy, Rosa and Michele emigrated to the United States in 1958 and 1959, respectively. They moved to Cliffside Park, New Jersey, and later to Fort Lee, New Jersey where they lived for the majority of their lives.

Michele worked as a fisherman and tour boat operator on the Amalfi coast in Italy, and later in the USA as a stone mason and house painter. In his later years he enjoyed working in his garden. After her arrival in the United States Rosa briefly worked in a sewing factory until the arrival of her husband and son, and the later birth of her daughter. Rosa was most happy when she was taking care of her family.

A Celebration of Life will be held at St. James’ in Ridgefield when we emerge from the current lockdown due to the Coronavirus.

Condolences may be sent to the Rev. Mariano Gargiulo at frmarianog@gmail.com.

Lord, for your faithful people life is changed, not ended. When the body of our earthly dwelling lies in death, we gain an everlasting dwelling place in heaven. Lord, grant eternal rest, forever in the radiance of your light. Amen.
