Death in our diocesan family

With sadness we share the news of the death of the Rev. Charles Noss Arlin, 88, on May 3, 2026, of complications of Alzheimer’s disease.

In this diocese, Charles served the congregations of Holy Trinity, Hillsdale; All Saints’, Bergenfield; and the former Good Shepherd, Midland Park. He also served on the diocesan Department of Missions (Classes of 2002 and 2005). Read his full obituary.

Charles was predeceased by his parents, the Rev. William Aubrey Arlin and Edith Elizabeth (Noss) Arlin, as well as his sister Audrey (Arlin) Vault. He is survived by his adoring wife of 62 years, Jane (McDonough) Arlin; their children Patricia Arlin Bradley (David), Jennifer Arlin (Sam Braverman), Amy Arlin, and John Arlin; grandchildren David Bradley Jr., Grace Bradley, Sarah Braverman (Jonathan Eng), Rebecca Braverman, Robert Braverman, Robin Foster (Michael Bonilla), Margaret Foster, Zachary Arlin (Marissa Hill), Emmit Arlin, and Steven Arlin; his sisters Mary Arlin and Helen (Arlin) Storm; and his beloved nieces and nephews.

The family will receive visitors at Becker Funeral Home, 219 Kinderkamack Road in Westwood, on Monday, May 11, from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. All are welcome at a service to be held at Holy Trinity Church in Hillsdale on Monday, May 11, at 12:00 noon, followed by interment at George Washington Memorial Park in Paramus.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations in Charles’s memory to Holy Trinity, Hillsdale or the Society of Saint Margaret, 50 Harden Hill Road, Duxbury, MA 02331.

Good and gracious God, the light of the faithful and shepherd of souls, you sent your servant Charles to be a priest in your Church to feed your sheep with your word and to guide them by his example; give us the grace to keep the faith he taught and to follow in his footsteps. We entrust him into your unfailing mystery of Love and Hope through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
