With sadness we share the news of the death of Marilyn "Lyn" Conrad, 86, on September 1, 2018 at her home in Bloomfield due to complications of Alzheimer's Disease. She served on diocesan staff in the 1990s as executive secretary to Bishop John Shelby Spong.
A memorial service is planned at the Union Congregational Church in Montclair on Saturday, September 15 at 2 PM.
Born in Montclair, Lyn attended the public schools, and graduated from Katharine Gibbs Secretarial School and Montclair State University. She was married for 59 years to David Conrad, a local lawyer, and they raised three children.
Lyn was active for over 40 years in the Union Congregational Church, appearing onstage in a number of plays presented by the Union Church Players, as well as starring in the Montclair Dramatic Club's productions of "Teahouse of the August Moon" and "Wait Until Dark." She was also a member of the Junior League of Montclair. A book of her poetry was published in 2014. A ardent traveler, she and her husband visited Mexico, Kenya, Peru, Spain, Morocco, Wales, Turkey, China, New Zealand, Australia, Italy, Thailand, Poland, Hungary, Russia and Ireland.
She is survived by her children, Robbie and husband Chris Ratte; Philip and wife Natacha Mongeau; Angela and husband Roberto Osti; and her grandchildren, Chloe and Lucas Ratte and Emilia and Massimo Osti.
