This documentary about Sr. Jane Maanka and her Good Shepherd Home for Children in Bamenda Cameroon was produced by Diana Wilcox in 2007.

Sister Jane MankaaWith sadness we share the news of the death of Sister Jane Mankaa on April 1, 2021 in Cameroon.

In response to a strong call to care for the many homeless children of Cameroon, Sister Jane founded the Benedictine Sisters of Bethany, Good Shepherd Home for Children, and Good Shepherd Academy. In preparation for this work, she lived for a year with the Community of St. John Baptist in Mendham while studying convent management. The Community continues to actively support of her work in Cameroon to this day.

The Good Shepherd Home in Bamenda, Cameroon now cares for 100 children. They are sheltered, fed, clothed, educated and most of all, loved. Sr. Jane never turned a child away and no child is put up for adoption. The children live in a loving family environment with a hundred brothers and sisters.

Receive her into the arms of your mercy, into the blessed rest of everlasting peace, and into the glorious company of the saints in light. Amen.
