Death in our diocesan family: Frances (Fran) Mary Hager

Frances (Fran) Mary HagerWith sadness we share the news of the death of Frances (Fran) Mary Hager, 81, on October 4, 2020 in Baltimore, MD.

A woman of deep faith, Fran was a former member and ministry partner in the Episcopal Diocese of Newark participating in the Department of Missions; was a member of the 4th Day Cursillo Community; a member of the former NewArk Construction Team, a ministry of the Cursillo community. At St. John’s Episcopal Church in Hasbrouck Heights, she was a member of the altar guild and a former junior and senior warden. She was also a former senior warden at St. John’s Episcopal Church in Hamlin, PA as well as being an active member of the Daughters of the King.

Fran was predeceased by her husband of 43 years, Joe and her sister, Lillian Masters. She is survived by her loving daughter Janet Hager and daughter-in-law, the Rev. Canon Chris McCloud; and her grandsons, Ram and Bilal. She leaves a host of cousins, nieces, nephews and friends, but most especially her beloved friend of 68 years, Elaine Brown.

Funeral service and interment were held at St. Francis Episcopal Church, Lutherville-Timonium, MD. A memorial service will be held at a later date in NJ. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Sutton Scholars High School Enrichment Program at suttonscholars.org.

Lord, for your faithful people life is changed, not ended. When the body of our earthly dwelling lies in death, we gain an everlasting dwelling place in heaven. Lord, grant eternal rest, forever in the radiance of your light. Amen.
