[The Alternative Press] Hundreds attended a candlelit prayer service for David Bird on Monday night at All Saints' Episcopal Church [in Millington].

As the crowd lit their candles, they sang, "This Little Light of Mine."

All Saints rector, the Rev. Victoria McGrath, led the service by first thanking all of the rescue workers and volunteers.

McGrath said, "the Birds are a part of our community, and David is chairman of the Boy Scout troop we sponsor." Two of the Boy Scouts did readings at the service.

She said, coming together is a way to focus all the thoughts and prayers and bring the community together, making each individual prayer stronger and giving each other strength.

The prayer service ended with the crowd singing, "He's Got David Bird in His Hands." The search will resume on Tuesday, Jan. 14.
