ACTS/VIM Fund

Supports programs and projects that encourage community outreach.

There is one funding cycle each year with an application deadline of 12 noon on March 1. Funds are disbursed in June.

Alleluia Fund for Outreach

Supports congregation-based or affiliated programs providing practical, hands-on support to those most vulnerable in our diocese and internationally.

Grant applications are accepted each year from August 15 to September 15 at 12 noon.

Bishop’s Church Emergency Fund (BCEF)

Provides financial support for church buildings in the diocese needing repairs and renovation, with a special focus on emergency and unforeseen needs. Four times a year, a “call” goes out to support a critical need identified by the Bishop.

Ward J. Herbert Fund

Provides funds for buildings that are used for congregational functions. Applications are received three times a year:

  • February 15 for mid-spring funding
  • April 15 for late-spring funding
  • October 1 for early winter funding

United Thank Offering (UTO)

A fund of The Episcopal Church that supports innovative mission and ministry throughout The Episcopal Church and Provinces of the Anglican Communion. Each diocese may submit one application for a project within the diocese.

Episcopal Capital Loan Fund (ECLF)

Provides congregations short-term loans to fund capital campaigns and long-term loans for major building projects.

Finances energy efficiency and retrofit projects, creating energy and cost savings while reducing greenhouse gas emissions.

Scholarships

Gertrude Butts Scholarship Fund

Open to youth who are members of a parish in the Diocese of Newark and demonstrate financial need, with a special emphasis on orphans or children of single parents.

Union of Black Episcopalians (UBE) Scholarship Fund

Open to all high school seniors who are actively engaged in the life, work and ministry of a parish in the Diocese of Newark.

George E. Rath Scholarship Fund

Open to children of canonically resident clergy.

Application Deadline: May 15 (for the academic year beginning in the Fall).
