The Episcopal Dioceses of Newark and New Jersey, working with the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Newark and the Lutheran (ELCA), Presbyterian, Reformed, and Ukrainian Orthodox churches, are joining together in celebration of this historic moment in the universal church.

Pastoral Leader training is designed for lay ministers who are called to assist their clergy person in providing pastoral and spiritual leadership in their congregation.

For the culminating event of the Diocese of Newark’s 150th Anniversary, join Bishop Hughes on a powerful pilgrimage through Alabama, retracing the footsteps of history and the brave souls who fought for civil rights.

This ecumenical prayer celebration will be held at the Cathedral of St John the Baptist in Paterson, of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Paterson.

The Black Clergy Women Gathering will take place from June 23-June 26, 2025 at the Loyola Retreat and Ecology Campus (LUREC) in Woodstock, Illinois.

This summer, youth (currently in grades 8-12) from across the Diocese of Newark are invited to embark on a transformative journey through the Southern United States, exploring the role of The Episcopal Church in the 1960s Civil Rights Movement.
