In October, St. Michael’s began a nine-week study of the Nine Fruits of the Spirit using the core practices of our diocesan Going Local journey, which lead us to listen to God, one another and join God in our neighborhoods. Thirty-seven people formed five small groups, each with its own leader, to meet at various times, days and locations. All groups encouraged participation by both church members and non-members.

The study started with Dwelling in the Word for the scripture assigned to each Fruit of the Spirit, and study guide questions regarding God’s presence in our lives. At the conclusion of the study each person wrote on an index card one thing they learned from being in the group and one blessing they received. The cards were collected, and the answers listed anonymously in the parish newsletter and Sunday bulletin. St. Michael’s Guiding Team will review the answers as a discernment tool for next steps on their Going Local journey.
