The Rev. Virginia Dinsmore to serve as diocesan Coordinator for Missional Church Strategy

The Rev. Ginny Dinsmore

Bishop Mark Beckwith is pleased to announce that the Rev. Virginia (Ginny) Dinsmore will join the diocesan staff as Coordinator for Missional Church Strategy beginning April 1, 2013.

The Coordinator for Missional Church Strategy is a new position responsible for supporting and facilitating our congregations in the development of missional, radically welcoming ministries. In this role, Ginny will partner with the Mission Strategy Committee, the Bishop, the Canon to the Ordinary, the CFO and other diocesan staff and groups to advance efforts involving congregational development, missional identification and nurturing, new ministries, revitalization and re-imagination of existing ministries, and radical welcome.

Ordained a priest in 2006, Ginny has served as Priest-in-Charge at St. Dunstan’s Church in Succasunna since 2008, a role she will continue on a half-time basis going forward. Previously, she served as Assistant and Coordinator of Christian Formation at St. Mary’s Church in Portsmouth, Rhode Island from 2005 to 2008.

In 2010, Ginny was appointed by Bishop Beckwith to Diocesan Council. She later joined Council’s Steering Committee as co-convener of the Empowering People Action Team, and was appointed Vice President of Council in February 2012. Ginny has also served as chair of the Marge Christie Congregational Growth and Vitality Fund, Peer Leader of the Transitional Ministries Group, and on the planning team for Vestry University and Search Consultants Training. She has worked as a diocesan consultant and has facilitated Appreciative Inquiry workshops at both Vestry University and Convention.

In her community, Ginny is an active member of the Roxbury Clergy Council and has volunteered at the Roxbury Public Library

Ginny has a son, Benjamin, who lives in Newport, RI. She shares her home with two Australian Shepherds, Nytro and Micah, and also volunteers as a “foster mom” with Aussie Rescue and Placement Helpline, an Australian Shepherd rescue organization. She loves working jigsaw puzzles and being outdoors.
