The Rev. Deacon Raul Ausa joins the diocesan staff today as Diocesan Summer Assistant through August 31. In this role, he will have the opportunity to look at ministries in various parishes in the diocese, learn more about the work of the diocesan staff to provide support and resources to congregations, and do some intentional reflection and preparation for his ordination as a priest and his work in parish ministry. He will be working closely with both Canon Wright and Canon Clark during this period of summer ministry. In September, he will move on to begin an appointment as Priest-in-Charge at Trinity Church, Allendale.
"I'm grateful for the opportunity to be working with the Bishop's staff this summer as I prepare to begin at my first cure in the fall," said Deacon Ausa. He has recently moved back to the diocese proper with his wife, Sierra, his mother, Laura, and their bulldog Maggie, and says they're all very excited to be home. In his downtime – a new concept for a recently-graduated seminarian, he notes – he says he'll be taking Maggie to some of their old hiking spots, and seeing if his wife and neighbors will tolerate his attempts to polish up his skills on the bagpipes.
Like the rest of the diocesan staff, Deacon Ausa will be working remotely for the time being. He can be reached at firstname.lastname@example.org.
