Matt Porowski and Shannon Molnar, both local college students with a long history as first campers and then counselors at Cross Roads, have been hired as the Pop Up Youth Ministry Fellows for its inaugural year.
Currently serving on Cross Roads' summer 2019 leadership team, the two are already at work planning the youth and young adult events to be held at host churches starting in September.
More information about Pop Up Youth Ministry will be coming out later this summer. In the meantime, here's a little about Matt and Shannon.
A Chemistry student at The College of New Jersey, Matt has attended summer camp at Cross Roads since he was 10. He was a Leader-in-Training at Cross Roads in 2016, spent two years as a counselor, and is on the leadership team this summer.
Matt has been to many youth group events both as a participant and a leader and is excited for Pop Up to begin. He hopes this ministry will be a safe and welcoming faith community where youth learn about God and grow in their faith.
In his free time, Matt loves to make music, read, watch baseball, and run.
Shannon attends Ramapo College of New Jersey, where she is studying Biology and thinking of studying Physical Therapy. She also was in the 2016 Cross Roads Leader-in-Training program. Since then, she’s been on summer staff; this is her second summer on the leadership team.
Shannon has attended youth group events her entire life and believes youth group and camp were very important in her faith formation, self-growth, and leadership skills. She's excited to be a part of something that will give the youth fun, impactful experiences on their faith journeys.
When she’s not at school or camp, Shannon loves to spend time with her family and two dogs, read, and wait for hammock weather.
