December 2012 Grants by the Ward J. Herbert Fund

On December 12, 2012, Diocesan Council ratified a total of $69,432 in grants recommended by the Ward J. Herbert Fund Board for its third granting cycle.

The Ward J. Herbert Fund provides funds for buildings that are used for congregational functions. Top priority is given to funds for deterioration of structure, hazards, and emergencies, such as required roof repairs and inoperative boilers. The fund's second priority is interior and exterior renovation to provide for expanded mission of the congregation. Grants from the Ward J. Herbert Fund must be matched dollar for dollar.  There are three funding cycles each year.

The amounts granted for the December 2012 funding cycle were:

Trinity, Kearny, furnace repairs and pipe repairs, $4,694
St. Agnes & St. Paul's, East Orange, boiler replacement, $9,437
Trinity Parish, Bayonne, flat roof repairs, $6,000
St. Andrew's, Newark, roof repairs, $8,812
St. John's, Boonton, rectory porch and church roof & ceiling, $6,800
Grace Church, Newark, sewage ejection system, $4,250
Church of the Epiphany, Orange, rectory front porch replacement, $6,622
St. Matthew's, Paramus, repairs to boiler, siding; eaves, $5,312
