Death in our diocesan family: The Rev. Wes Wubbenhorst

The Rev. Wes Wubbenhorst

With sadness we share the news of the death of the Rev. Wesley "Wes" Wubbenhorst, 62, on Tuesday, March 15, 2016 at his home in Annapolis, MD, of lymphoma. A Requiem Eucharist will be held this Saturday, March 19 at 1 PM at the Cathedral of the Incarnation in Baltimore. The service will be livestreamed on the internet; the video link will be available at www.episcopalmaryland.org.

After his ordination to the priesthood, Wes served as the Chaplain and Assistant Director of the Episcopal Camp And Conference Center in Ivoryton, CT before coming to the Diocese of Newark, where he served at Grace Church in Madison as Associate Rector from 1994 to 1998. He then moved to the Diocese of Maryland where he served at at St. Margaret’s Church in Annapolis as Associate under then-Rector Mary Glasspool, now Bishop Suffragen of the Diocese of Los Angeles. In 2004 Wes joined the staff of the Diocese of Maryland as Youth Missioner, where he served for 10 years. His last call was as Interim Rector at Christ Church in Port Republic, MD.

Wes is survived by his wife of 33 years, Vivienne.

Good and gracious God, the light of the faithful and shepherd of souls, you sent your servant Wes to be a priest in your Church to feed your sheep with your word and to guide them by his example; give us the grace to keep the faith he taught and to follow in his footsteps. We entrust him into your unfailing mystery of Love and Hope through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
