Death in our diocesan family: The Rev. John A. Donnelly

With sadness we share the news of the death of the Rev. John A. Donnelly, 70, on November 5, 2023, peacefully with his devoted wife of 42 years, the Rev. Ellen Donnelly, by his side.

John and Ellen served together as Co-Rectors of St. Michael's, Wayne for 20 years, from 1991 until 2011. John also served multiple years on the Constitution & Canons Committee and the Commission on Aging. Read his full obituary.

In addition to his wife Ellen, John is survived by a son, Patrick Donnelly; a daughter, Anna Ferguson and her husband Michael; a brother, James Donnelly; and his grandchildren Donald, Molly, and Aurora.

A Memorial Service Requiem Eucharist in celebration of his life will be held at St. Peter's Episcopal Church in Oxford, CT at a later date. Interment will be at St. Peter's Cemetery.

Good and gracious God, the light of the faithful and shepherd of souls, you sent your servant John to be a priest in your Church to feed your sheep with your word and to guide them by his example; give us the grace to keep the faith he taught and to follow in his footsteps. We entrust him into your unfailing mystery of Love and Hope through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
