Death in our diocesan family: The Rev. James F. Jannucci

With sadness we share the news of the passing of the Rev. James F. Jannucci, 85, on Sunday, December 28, 2014, at Englewood Hospital after a short illness.

Born in New Jersey, James served as a Roman Catholic priest for 13 years – for eight years as a missionary in Peru, and as a parish priest in the Diocese of Paterson. He was received as a priest in the Episcopal Church in 1979, and served as Rector of Trinity, Cliffside Park from 1979 until his retirement in 2003. During his 24-year tenure he was active in both the district and the diocese. In his retirement, he served two times as Interim Rector at Grace Church, Union City.

He is survived by his wife Ana, whom he married in 1973; three children, James, Jonathan and Mia; and six grandchildren. Three days before he died he learned that he was soon to have a seventh grandchild.

Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. this Friday, January 2 at McCorry Brothers Funeral Home, 780 Anderson Avenue, Cliffside Park.

His funeral service will be this Saturday, January 3 at 10:30 a.m. at Grace Church, 3901 Park Avenue, Union City.

Condolences may be sent to Mrs. Ana Jannucci at 74 Oakdene Avenue, Cliffside Park, NJ 07010.

Good and gracious God, the light of the faithful and shepherd of souls, you sent your servant James to be a priest in your Church to feed your sheep with your word and to guide them by his example; give us the grace to keep the faith he taught and to follow in his footsteps. We entrust him into your unfailing mystery of Love and Hope through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
