Death in our diocesan family: Herbert D. Thomas

Herbert D. ThomasWith sadness we share the news of the death of Herbert D. "Herb" Thomas, 89, on June 14, 2020. Herb’s death follows on the heels of the death of his wife of 64 years, Jean, on March 11, 2020.

Born on December 24, 1930, Herb was baptized in February 1931 at Grace Church, Newark, which remained his parish until he and Jean relocated to Burlington County in 1995. During those 64 years, he held many positions both in the parish and in the Diocese of Newark, including multiple terms on the Commission on Ministry and as a Bishop’s Appointment to the Ecumenical Commission. After moving to the Diocese of New Jersey, Herb also served on numerous diocesan committees there, and was active at Trinity Church, Moorestown. Read Herb's full obituary here.

Herb is survived by his daughter, Liz Thomas, son-in-law, Jim Kehoe and granddaughter, Kristen Van Iderstine.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Book of Remembrance, c/o Trinity Episcopal Church, 207 W. Main St., Moorestown, NJ 08057.
