Bishop Mark Beckwith began his tenure as the 10th Bishop of Newark when he was consecrated on January 27, 2007. On January 27, 2017 diocesan staff held a celebration of the 10th anniversary of Bishop Beckwith's episcopate during the Convention dinner.

Tributes were given by Bishop Beckwith's interfaith clergy colleagues, Rabbi Matthew Gewrtz and Imam W. Deen Shareef, and diocesan Administrator John King read a congratulatory letter from Senator Cory Booker.

Then diocesan staff surprised Bishop Beckwith with a video retrospective of his episcopate produced by Diana Wilcox and diocesan Communications Director Nina Nicholson, and a gift presented by his Executive Assistant, Kay Lark.

Finally, Bishop Beckwith's wife, Marilyn Olson, who was at home recovering from a broken leg, delivered a message via pre-recorded video.
