In late September, Calvary Church, Summit was filled with the laughter and liveliness of nine theological students from The Anglican University (Sungkonghoe) in Seoul, South Korea. They were here for a two-week Spiritual Formation course led by the Rev. Robert Corin Morris, Founder of Interweave.
Led by the Rev. Dr. Joo Yup Lee, Anglican priest and Associate Professor and Head of the Theology Department at the University, the group represented Anglican, Roman Catholic and Evangelical backgrounds, including three who plan to study for the Anglican priesthood.
Housed at Gwynne House next to Calvary Church, the students attended morning classes and then were free to visit local sites, including Drew Theological School; sample American cuisine; and go sight-seeing in New York City, including the Cathedral of St. John the Divine, where they attended Eucharist.
The program is an outgrowth of Fr. Morris’ March 2019 trip to South Korea to lead a five-day spiritual formation event for the Korean Methodist Church and speak in the Lenten series at the Anglican Cathedral in Seoul. Fr. Joo Yup Lee hopes to repeat the experience with future students.
