Summary of 2012 Alleluia Fund Grant Recipients

In 2012, $145,321 in grants was distributed to 25 organizations through the Alleluia Fund. The recipients were:

All Saints Community Service and Development Corporation (ASCSDC) (Hoboken, NJ)
$7,100 to provide summer educational services for low-income children living in public housing in Hoboken.

Care on the Corner Community Service Center (St. John the Divine, Hasbrouck Heights, NJ)
$4,000 to support children and young adult visual and performing arts programs - Kids on the Corner and NewARTS Kids.

Cedar Hill CDC at St. John's (Boonton, NJ)
$3,500 to support after school programming for low income families and their children in Boonton offering educational and social opportunities.

Christ Church Community Development Corporation Hackensack (Hackensack, NJ)
$7,500 to provide shelter and remove barriers to housing for homeless, at-risk and in-crisis citizens of Bergen County.

Epiphany Food Pantry (Orange, NJ)
$4,000 to support general operating costs of Epiphany Food Pantry.

Episcopal Community Development (Newark, NJ)
$7,500 to support ECD's Lavender and Lace Empowerment Program, an 8-week training program for economically disadvantaged women to provide life skills to make lasting change in their lives.

Family Promise of Bergen County (Ridgewood, NJ)
$7,500 to provide operating support for shelter services to temporarily homeless, working families in Bergen County.

Family Promise of Sussex County (Newton, NJ)
$4,000 to expand Supported Housing Program to provide financial assistance and in-home case management to former guests of the shelter program.

Garden State Episcopal Community Development Corporation (Jersey City, NJ)
$7,100 to provide additional critical services to the homeless and marginalized who attend the Hudson County Recovery Support Project - Homeless Drop In Center, including health education, health screenings on site, portable hygiene kits and nutrition.

Greater Life, Inc. (Newark, NJ)
$4,000 to expand after-school enrichment program for at-risk children in Newark.

Haven of Hope for Kids (Hope, NJ)
$7,000 to support general operating costs to support mission of providing cost-free country retreats and an ongoing network of support for families caring for a child with cancer or other life threatening illnesses.

Holy Trinity Food Pantry (West Orange, NJ)
$3,500 to purchase food for food pantry and staff suppport for Food Pantry coordinator and administrator.

Horizons at St. Philip's Academy (Newark, NJ)
$7,000 to support operating costs of six-week summer academic enrichment program at St. Philip's for low-income students in Newark.

Interfaith Hospitality Network of Essex County (Montclair, NJ)
$5,500 to provide operating support for the 5 day a week After School Program for children and parents from the congregational shelter and service enriched housing program.

La Puerta Abierta Center (Union, NJ)
$5,700 to support year-round program serving 40 at-risk Latino children (ages 7 - 10) in Union City including after-school services, ESL program for parents and a new computer room.

Liberia Clinic (Africa)
$16,320 to provide for the construction of the roof of the partially built medical clinic in Liberia to enable continued medical care for the people in the region.

Montclair Emergency Services for the Homeless (Montclair, NJ)
$7,500 to expand services to the homeless in Montclair in partnership with local houses of worship, Montclair State, public schools, local businesses and not-for-profit organizations.

Montclair Protestant Foundation (Montclair, NJ)
$4,000 to support the part-time progressive Protestant chaplain at Montclair State University.

NEWARK ACTS Young Adult Urban Internship Program (Newark, NJ)
$4,000 to assist with feeding the hungry and homeless residents of Clinton Hill section of Newark and to continue assisting in the education of the NEWARK ACTS interns for social and economic justice.

Senior Resource Center (Chester, NJ)
$4,000 to support semi-monthly Lunch-N-Learn education and informational workshops at Chester Library and Washington Township Public Library.

Shepherd's Haven Adult Day Care Center (Pompton Lakes, NJ)
$3,051 to support respite care fee support for low income seniors and disabled adults.

St. Luke's, Hope Afghan School Project (Afghanistan)
$750 to provide financial support of Central Girls HS in Afghanistan and to support the pen pal project between 100 Afghan girls and 18 American girls from local churches and schools.

St. Paul's Episcopal Church - After School Program (Paterson, NJ)
$9,500 to provide funding for After School Program and seed money for these children to participate in Discovery Camp program.

St. Peter's Haven (Clifton, NJ)
$6,300 to purchase equipment for St. Peter's Food Pantry and provide funding for staff and food.

Toni's Kitchen at St. Luke's Church (Montclair, NJ)
$5,000 to improve the nutritional quality of meals served and to address the nutritional needs of the senior citizen guests of Toni's Kitchen.
