Death in our diocesan family notices are sent for the following diocesan members:

  • Clergy who have served in the diocese;
  • Lay people who have served the diocese in one of our governing bodies or ministries, or who have served The Episcopal Church;
  • The spouse/partner or close family member of one of the above.

Death in our diocesan family notices are sent by the diocesan Director of Communications. Items needed for the notice are:

  • An obituary, either a document or a link to a published obituary;
  • Information about their service to the diocese or The Episcopal Church;
  • Service arrangements;
  • Where condolences may be sent (if the family does not wish to publish a homes address, these may be sent in care of their parish);
  • Whether donations are requested in lieu of flowers, and if so, to which organization(s);
  • Optional: a high resolution photo.

We reserve the right to edit what is submitted, and it is within the discretion of the diocese not to publish an announcement.

All persons for whom a diocesan announcement is made are automatically included in the Necrology read at the next Diocesan Convention.
