On the fall morning of Saturday, October 25, thirteen Sunday school teachers and ministry leaders from across the Diocese of Newark gathered at Grace Church, Nutley, for a time of rest, reflection, and renewal.
While many see fall as a time of endings, the Children and Families Ministry Team views it as an opportunity for new beginnings, renewal, and rest. To support this, the team is excited to announce two upcoming events.
Fourteen youth pilgrims and four adult chaperones from the Episcopal Diocese of Newark returned last month from a powerful, weeklong Civil Rights Youth Pilgrimage through the American South. Held from June 26 to July 2, 2025, the journey explored the intersection of faith and justice through immersive visits to key historic sites in Nashville, Birmingham, Montgomery, and Atlanta.
The insights shared at our March 15 gathering are already shaping our planning for future initiatives, resource development, and connection opportunities, and we're excited to announce our next gathering on August 14.
At the 150th Diocesan Convention in November 2024, Bishop Hughes announced the formation of a new Commission that would lift up the ministry to people in the first third of life across the diocese, one of the initiatives recommended in the Strategic Vision adopted by Diocesan Council in late 2023.
