Grace Church is an Episcopal church in the “Broad Church” tradition within the Anglican Communion. Grace currently holds a weekly Holy Eucharist Service (Mass) with music on Sundays at 10AM during the program year (at 9AM in the summer months), which is preceded with a short choir rehearsal. A formal and longer choir practice is currently held weekly on Wednesday evenings. This is a Part-Time position and could work well alongside other musical and/or career commitments.
We are seeking to partner with an accomplished, creative, and inspirational musician to enrich our worship with beautiful sacred music, building upon the strong foundation laid by our current Organist and Director of Music during his decade of service.
Grace has a small, committed volunteer choir with clergy and lay leaders who are supportive of the music program. The new Organist/Director will have the opportunity to hire up to five section leaders and/or choral scholars (one leader and one scholar are currently in place). There is hope to develop the musical life of the church, including exploring the possibility of involving children more often in music, creating a children and youth choral program, additional feast day services with music, and/or more regularly offer evensongs.
The church has a wonderful 3-Manual Austin organ, which was recently refurbished by Emery Brothers. The parish has a regular service contract in place to maintain and tune this instrument and our pianos.
Closing date for applications is Saturday November 30th 2024 (or once a candidate is selected). Interviews will be arranged as resumes/CVs are received and reviewed. January 1st 2025 start date is preferred, or as soon as possible thereafter. Grace Church (Episcopal) is an inclusive and affirming parish. Salary is commensurate with experience. For an informal conversation or to apply with your resume/CV (with references) please contact the priest-in-charge via email.
