Stories from our Congregations

The Harriet Tubman Regional Network met for its 3rd Annual Prayer Service and Ice Cream Social at St Marguerite’s Retreat House at the Community of St John Baptist. The outdoor worship included the prayers offered by Episcopal Relief & Development to honor World Humanitarian Day and an Evensong officiated by Deacon Annie Pike, followed by fellowship in the refectory dining area. If you have never tried sweet corn ice cream (a local farm-to-table creamy delight) consider joining the event next year.

August 19 marks the UN’s World Humanitarian Day, which aims to recognize aid workers and mobilize people from around the world to advocate for the broader humanitarian cause. The theme of this year’s campaign is It Takes A Village. A campaign by the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA), it was designated by the UN General Assembly in 2008 to coincide with the anniversary of the 2003 bombing of the UN headquarters in Baghdad, Iraq.

The Harriet Tubman Regional Ministry Network will next meet on October 21 at the same location for a potluck and to embark on Breading Bread with the Bishop as a call to envision regional mission collectively.
