Walking the Way of the Cross: Stations of the Present Moment

At Noon on Good Friday, St. Mark’s, Teaneck will again offer Walking the Way of the Cross: Stations of the Present Moment. This is a kinetic service of devotion that recalls the milestones of Jesus’ final hours on earth beginning with his arrest and ending when he is placed in the tomb.

The liturgy was first developed in 2020 for an online-only experience. The first few years the text was very much rooted in the pandemic “moment” but began to evolve as we emerged from isolation and experienced Lent in the “new normal.” This year’s text was adapted again to reflect the current social climate.

The service will take place outside, weather permitting, and involves some walking around the grounds of the church (on a sidewalk). We can provide chairs for resting as needed. In the event of rain, we will move indoors.
